About the role
As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for procurement of goods and materials required by Gideon’s Hardware Department. Your main role will be to ensure we obtain quality products for competitive prices in a timely manner. You will have an integral role in ensuring that company sticks to budgets and operates profitably.
Responsibilities we’ll trust you with:
- Obtain quotes for all supplies and materials for the R&D department and manufacturing operations while making sure QA standards are met
- Liaison with engineering team leads to ensure correct orders of goods and quantities are placed
- Submit purchase orders and forward payment requests to our accounting department
- Negotiate with suppliers to ensure reasonable prices of goods and materials
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and resolve any supply issues or discrepancies
- Develop relationships with existing suppliers and vendors
- Identify and research potential new suppliers and vendors
- Research new products and services that might benefit the Engineering Department in achieving its goals
- Monitor market trends and product availability of critical components in order to pay the best price for goods without sacrificing quality or delivery times
- Develop and improve current procurement methods and procedures
Your area of expertise:
- Bachelor's degree or high school diploma with relevant work experience in procurement, purchasing or similar role
- At least two years of experience in procurement of technical equipment (mechanical and electrical)
- Computer proficiency, especially in MS Office, and familiarity with business specific software like ERP, SCMS, purchasing, resource planning systems, etc.
- Very good interpersonal and communication skills in English (both spoken and written)
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Assertive, honest and systematic personality who likes to keep everything neat and organized
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Bonus points:
- Certifications such as Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, SAP, Oracle)
- Familiarity with international sourcing and logistics
