About the role
As the first person in this position in the US, you’ll own the quality control process from start to finish, conducting product and prototype tests to check durability and functionality, and troubleshooting any issues that come up.
You’ll work closely with our manufacturing engineer and assembly technicians, ensuring the final quality check is completed before products are shipped to customers, while making sure industry and quality standards are met.
You will be the gatekeeper of quality before delivery of the units to final customers, covering inspection of mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly, executing in-manufacturing checklists and final testing of the product to give it a green light, both from low level hardware and high-level software and functionality perspective.
Since we’re a growing startup, you’ll be wearing many hats! You’ll play a key role in helping to build and shape our manufacturing quality processes from the ground up, working closely with the team. We’re looking for someone with experience in creating and improving quality control and commissioning processes who’s excited to help us grow and succeed!
Our working site is in Woodridge, Chicago area.
Responsibilities we’ll trust you with:
- Establish and maintain quality control standards across all stages of manufacturing process in the US facility, from initial assembly to final testing
- Testing and troubleshooting of electro/mechanical systems. Take responsibility for the commissioning and testing of robotic systems, including hardware and software components, to ensure the highest level of quality standards prior to customer delivery
- Maintain and improve the current quality management system
- Monitor compliance with existing standards, evaluate current processes, and recommend improvements
- Structure the quality control and commissioning process for US manufacturing operations
- Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues, and lead preventive actions to resolve problems
- Prepare detailed and regular reports on quality metrics, inspections, audits, and corrective actions
- Ensure proper documentation is maintained for all US quality control activities, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and other teams to ensure quality requirements and known issues are understood and integrated throughout the product lifecycle
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior quality control engineers and technicians, ensuring alignment with best practices and company quality standards. Participate in hiring processes and new team member training
- Conduct training for the assembly team and propose improvements to the production process to mitigate detected problems
- Execute quality checks of our manufacturing process, execute robot commissioning activities and execute final testing of the product prior to customer delivery.
- Configure and use a Linux-based operating system and work with complex sensory, computing and actuating components on the robot to enable and test out the overall functionality
Your area of expertise:
- BSc or MSc degree (mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent)
- +5 years of experience in quality control, quality assurance or system commissioning roles, within machinery/industrial sectors
- Advanced knowledge of complex systems, components, and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Experience with electrical cabinets, motor controllers, computing and networking systems, sensors, hydraulic system, material handling vehicles, harness and wiring systems, connectors etc
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. Attention to details and a meticulous approach to work
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to communicate complex technical information and report problems effectively
- Ability to write concise and precise reports
Bonus points:
- Experience with autonomous mobile robots, automation, robotics systems and related components
- Interest in learning more about our robotic solutions to correctly identify the problem in the system is a must
